Woodworking is another hobby I enjoy. My dad taught me how to work with wood at a young age and I’ve been doing different types of woodworking projects most of my life. I shared a few photos of some of my favorite projects below. The first two photos are of my workbench I made which has 7 drawers, 2 vices, casters, 2 1/2″ thick top with T style clamping rails. Next is one of my favorite picture frames I made. I put in a signed photo of one of my favorite guitarists, Tosin Abasi of the band Animals as Leaders.

Next is a dry erase table I made that can be tilted up like a table, or down like a drawing board. It also features wheels on the bottom to move it around. I used this throughout college as a way to help track classes and assignments. I also built my own kitchen cupboards out of birch plywood. I’m very happy with how those turned out. I’ve done a lot of work in my house that isn’t pictured. I built 3 doors in my house. One is a large insulated door because I needed something extra large and non-standard and then an inside door, again a non-standard size, and I wanted a nice cat door in it. Then I built a custom screen door that features a cat door. I have a lot of cat doors in my house. I’ve also built all my shelves, computer desks, workbenches wherever I need to suit my requirements. I don’t really buy much furniture, I prefer to make everything myself.

The next pictures show a shelving unit I built for my mom (I should have taken photos before it got filled up, but I didn’t). That shelve is one of the nicer ones I’ve made. Built with pecky cypress and birch plywood. The pecky cypress, also used in the photo frame, is filled with a mix of glow in the dark powder, blue glitter, and epoxy resin. Then the whole shelf was epoxied over to protect it and make it easy to keep clean.

I also made a nice diploma frame out of some flame maple I had left over from building a beautiful tortilla press and a large cutting board. The diploma frame also has a blue pig suede backing with oiled horse leather corner straps. The backing it glued to a 1/4″ piece of birch plywood that is counter sunk into the back of the frame.

In the future I dream of expanding my wood shop and taking on more new types of projects for fun. Maybe a guitar build someday? who knows. I really enjoy this stuff and hope to keep making projects long into the future.

This is my idea of what a Midi Hang Drum would be. It has 9 pads and a touchscreen LCD to change the scale, key, and octave. Controls any Midi plugins over USB.

Dragon Coffee Table

This is a project I did around 2010 as a tribute to my late father who passed in 2008. My father had built several similar tables when I was really young and he gave most of them away to friends. I tried my best to mostly replicate the original table based on the pictures and the piece I still have.
